ABOUT the role

We are looking for a Newsdesk Manager to join our team in Munich with immediate effect working for SPOX and GOAL, SPOX is one of the leading multi-sports portals in Germany, GOAL is the football website with the widest reach worldwide.


What you'll be doing
  • You keep our engine room running, coordinate the day-to-day business, identify the topics of the day, keep an eye on the news situation, set and coordinate topics.

  • You keep an eye on our distribution channels and manage our content.

  • You monitor the development of traffic, both in real time and in the long term, and know the levers to optimise reach.

  • You promote quality and are jointly responsible for building our journalistic brands.

  • You will edit and produce the articles written by our editors, reporters, SEO writers and video contributors.

  • You create and optimise headlines and teasers for articles and videos, and are also responsible for writing titles and copy for posts on our social media channels.

  • You keep an eye on the international editions of GOAL and are also prepared to translate articles from other editions.

WHAT YOU HAVE
  • A degree in media, communications, journalism or similar - ideally in the field of sport. Or professional journalistic experience, ideally in a digital editorial office.

  • Experience with SEO and strong copywriting skills.

  • A passion or at least a keen interest in professional sport.

  • Social media also has grey areas for you.

  • A (basic) understanding of AI tools.

  • Exciting teasing is not a chore for you.

  • You take users and their interests seriously.

  • You like working with numerical tools and enjoy maximising your reach.

  • You don't shy away from weekend and shift work.

  • You are fluent and have no problems communicating in English.
