NWSL designates Footballco an Official Media Partner in Three-Year Agreement
Footballco has been named an official media and content partner of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) for a three-season collaboration, marking a significant leap forward in its coverage of US women’s soccer.
Footballco is committing more resources to cover the majority of NWSL matches, amplifying weekly highlights, providing more player-led storytelling, and going deep into the fan communities that are the heartbeat of the league. The deal provides Footballco with worldwide rights to distribute NWSL official match highlights for the next three seasons, commencing with the 2024 season kickoff last weekend.
These highlights, along with meticulously curated match content, will be available on Footballco’s global soccer platform, GOAL, and its dedicated women’s soccer platform, INDIVISA. Footballco will incorporate NWSL content into an array of new and innovative social-first video formats aimed at engaging fans and propelling the growth of the women’s game in the U.S.
Jason Wagenheim, CEO of Footballco North America, said: “This collaboration underscores our unwavering commitment to women’s soccer and signifies a pivotal moment in our journey to become the leading platform for showcasing the exceptional talent and passion within the NWSL. “Through compelling storytelling and the introduction of innovative video formats, we aim to celebrate the players and clubs that define the essence of this remarkable league,” he said.
In a significant expansion of the partnership, NWSL highlights will now be prominently featured in INDIVISA’s popular editorial series, including Ready to Play, Table Talk, Kit Bag, and more editorial video series currently in development. This integration is part of Footballco’s plans to provide fans with deeper insights and analysis, views into players’ lives off the pitch, and content that enriches fans’ understanding and appreciation of the NWSL and women’s soccer overall.
“We’re excited to partner with Footballco to deliver even more NWSL content to our expanding global audience,” said Senior Vice President of Broadcast Brian Gordon.
“Engaging with fans worldwide is central to our mission of cultivating a passionate community around the NWSL and global women’s soccer more broadly, and Footballco’s talented storytellers will no doubt help us achieve that goal.”
In addition to amplifying NWSL content across its channels, Footballco will collaborate closely with the league to showcase INDIVISA content on NWSL’s official social media platforms and website, fostering broader awareness and engagement among fans on the league’s owned and operated channels.
Footballco’s partnership with NWSL builds upon its previous involvement as an official sponsor of last season’s Championship Weekend. This program will continue into the new season, culminating with Footballco hosting the NWSL Championship Welcome Reception in November.
